Kevin became ill when he was on holiday in August 2008, just over two weeks after celebrating his fiftieth birthday.
After undergoing emergency surgery, he was diagnosed two weeks later with advanced sporadic Burkitt’s Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The prognosis was not good from the outset and he knew he had a huge battle ahead of him. Kevin endured many painful procedures on a daily basis. He used his strength, mental and physical, to fight this very aggressive form of Lymphatic cancer. Everyone who knew Kevin well assumed that he would pull through because of his indomitable spirit. He was never one to give up on a challenge.
He spent a total of 129 days in the Hospital, 117 of those in Critical Care and 12 days in the Haematology Unit where his treatment for the Lymphoma was directed.
Kevin succumbed to his illness on 17th December, 2008. He was in the prime of his life, with many dreams and ambitions for himself personally, and professionally for
Cello Group, the company he founded.
Family, friends and business colleagues will always remember Kevin’s unique personality. He had a great ability to bring people together and encourage them to believe in a common purpose. He managed to do this without losing touch with normality. Kevin always worked hard and did it all with dignity and integrity. He also played hard, and was fiercely competitive at any game, whether it was sport or a card game with his family!
This fund was set up by his wife Susan along with family and friends to form the Founding Committee. The first meeting was on 8 October 2009 with the first event on 28 November 2009 fitting in with Kevin’s mantra: “Get on with it.”
